05 March 2006 - Rack Sense announces launch of latest generation Sun dedicated servers.
Rack Sense has today updated its product line to cater for the latest generation of Sun Solaris
dedicated servers.
Our new range of rack-optimised Sun servers feature the AMD Opteron
based processor models as well as Sun's own revolutionary new CoolThreads T1
processor technology, providing 6 or 8 cores in a single CPU.
All our Sun servers are optimised and certified for use with the Solaris
multi-threaded operating system.
Multiple CPU core technology provides multiple independent CPUs within one physical core,
improving overall system performance and efficiency.
This can have great benefits in the area of cost vs. performance since some software will count
a single physical core as a single processor only. For database applications that are often
licenced on number of CPUs this can offer a great cost/performance benefit.
