News Article: Dual Core Opteron dedicated servers launched
02 September 2005 - Rack Sense announces launch of Dual Core Opteron dedicated servers.
Rack Sense has today expanded its product line to cater for dual processor dual core AMD
Opteron based dedicated servers. Our new range of rack-optimised Opteron servers feature
advanced thermal design and hot-swap SATA and SCSI drive bays.
Coupled with high performance hardware RAID our new range of servers provide the next
step in performance for demanding applications such as database serving.
Dual Core technology provides two CPUs on one physical core, improving overall system
performance and efficiency.
This can have great benefits in the area of cost vs. performance since some software will count
a single physical core as a single processor only. For database applications that are often
licenced on number of CPUs this can offer a great cost/performance benefit.
